You don’t need a degree to make a difference. Just life experience and a little time.
At Brotherline, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. We're not therapists. We’re not counselors. We're just men who’ve been through tough moments and who are willing to be there for someone else going through theirs. If you’ve lived through grief, burnout, divorce, depression, fatherhood, addiction, loneliness or any life experience that changed you, your story can offer strength to someone who feels alone right now.
What does being a volunteer mean?
You’ll be matched with a man who’s facing something you’ve already been through
You’ll offer one-on-one conversations over the phone, video, or in person at a time that works for you.
You’ll listen without judgment, offer presence over advice, and help create a safe space.
You can also choose to co-host or participate in group sessions if you’re comfortable.
You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to show up honestly and listen deeply.
Do I need training?
Yes, we’ll guide you through a short, practical onboarding that helps you understand:
What peer support is (and isn’t)
How to listen in a way that truly helps
What to do if someone is in crisis
How to take care of your own emotional boundaries
We’ve got your back. You won’t be doing this alone.
How much time do I need to give?
That’s up to you. Most volunteers offer:
- 4 hours per month, sometimes less.
- Flexible scheduling, evenings, weekends, or whenever you’re available.
- Occasional group check-ins with the Brotherline community.
Why volunteer?
Because you know what it’s like to struggle.
Because someone once showed up for you or maybe no one did.
Because one honest conversation can shift someone’s whole path.
